Discussion and/or action re ardin the PEDC executin a Proclamation in su port of "Com letel Widenin to Four Lanes US Hi hwa 271 and US Hi shwa 82 in Lamar & Red River Counties". Judge Superville stated "growth is coming to Paris and Lamar County". We are asking for help to bring the vision of five major highways converging with Paris as a hub to reality. A decision will be made by December to push these projects to the Uniform Transportation Planner (UTP). Once a project is on the UTP it is on a ten year track for roads. Lamar and Red River counties are the only counties that Highway 82 and Highway 271 are not 4 -lane. Judge Superville went on to say that we have not shared in the growth of the rest of the state of Texas and the highways are part of the reason. TxDot needs the community support in signed proclamations and emails to Mr. Perry. Mr. Perry from TxDot spoke to the Highway 82 project in Fannin County stating that it is the biggest project for the Paris District. Mr. Paris asked if the feasibility study was completed. Mr. Perry stated TxDot has looked at this so much they know what needs to be done. Mr. Paris then asked about a feasibility study for the Loop. We were told that funds existed to pay for the study. Mr. Perry replied the study will be kicking off soon. The discussion went on to the Loop and how it would need to accommodate the extra traffic from the expanded highways. The Loop study would show how to proceed. Judge Superville introduced Mr. Wall as the founder of SuRRMA. Mr. Wall stated that seeing Paris as a transportation mecca with five 4 -lane highways intersecting would be exciting for everyone in Paris. He asked that the Board sign the proclamation and all individuals sign letters to TxDot. Mr. Allen told us that the Chamber is onboard with this. Mayor Francis from Deport spoke about the expansion of the highway in Deport and how we all can prosper with the highway expansion. Mr. Manning encouraged the Board Members to write a letter in support. Dr. Hashmi asked Mr. Wall to bring a letter to his office and he would have his patients PEDC Board Meeting Minutes July 20, 2018 Page 3 of 4 sign it. Discuss and ossibl select Meetin Da s and Times for the New Board. Mr. Paris said that each new Board establishes a day and time that works best for the majority. Dr. Hashmi stated that most boards meet when the public can attend the meetings. This is usually in the early evening. The PEDC is the only Board that meets during the day. Mr. Manning asked that it be a time when we could use the Council Chambers. Mr. Paris asked the Board if we could find times and days that the Council Chambers are available. Mr. Hamill commented that if we are accommodating the public the time would need to be later than 4:00 p.m. since the public would still be at work. Mr. Paris will email the Board what we found for days and times. Executive Director's Monthl Re ort. • We received a check from selling the metal frame of a small building and a generator at the Oliver Rubber site in the amount of $2,650.00. • We are preparing to bid out the metal in Superior Switch building. The structure is intact so the buyer will only need to take the bolts out to disassemble the beams. This will help offset some of the clean-up costs we are incurring. • The trip to Select USA and the trip to the Food Show were cancelled due to the activity with our prospect. • The Texas Road Show takes place in August. I am looking into how this would work with our schedule. • The sign in front of our building was bent up by vandals. We replaced to sign and the sign company added extra screws to secure it. • We did due diligence on the site in the northwest corner of the Industrial Park close to the Atmos Building. The site will be advertised as shovel -ready. • We have the budget almost ready to take to the City Council on August 13a'.
