Discuss, conduct a public hearing, and act on ORDINANCE NO. 2018-021: AN <br />ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS, <br />AMENDING ZONING ORDINANCE NO. 1710 OF THE CITY OF PARIS, BLOCK <br />257-B, 0.30 ACRES, BEING LOCATED AT 2531 PINE BLUFF, IN THE CITY OF <br />PARIS, LAMAR COUNTY, TEXAS, FROM A SINGLE-FAMILY DWELLING <br />DISTRICT (SF -2) TO A MULTIPLE -FAMILY DWELLING DISTRICT (MF -2); <br />DIRECTING A CHANGE ACCORDINGLY IN THE OFFICIAL ZONING MAP OF <br />THE CITY; PROVIDING A REPEALER CLAUSE, A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE, A <br />SAVINGS CLAUSE, A PENALTY CLAUSE; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE <br />DATE. <br />City Manager John Godwin said the owners planned to construct a duplex on the <br />property, and there were other duplexes in the area. He also said if the zoning was approved, the <br />owners must seek a variance from the Board of Adjustment due to building setback <br />requirements. Mr. Godwin said staff recommended approval, as did the Planning and Zoning <br />Commission. <br />Mayor Clifford opened the public hearing and asked anyone wishing to speak in support <br />or opposition of this item, to please come forward. With no one speaking, Mayor Clifford closed <br />the public hearing. <br />A Motion to approve this item was made by Mayor Clifford and seconded by Council <br />Member Portugal. Motion carried, 7 ayes — 0 nays. <br />12. Discuss, conduct' a public hearing, and act on ORDINANCE NO. 2018=022: AN <br />ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS, <br />AMENDING ZONING ORDINANCE NO. 1710OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS, <br />AS HERETOFORE AMENDED, SO AS TO REZONE LOT 28 AND PT 27, CITY <br />BLOCK 2, 0.2190 ACRES, IN THE STELLROSE ADDITION, BEING LOCATED AT <br />741 S.E. 23RD STREET, IN THE CITY OF PARIS, LAMAR COUNTY, TEXAS, <br />FROM A ONE -FAMILY DWELLING DISTRICT (SF -2) TO A MULTIPLE -FAMILY <br />DWELLING DISTRICT (MF -1; DIRECTING A CHANGE ACCORDINGLY IN THE <br />OFFICIAL ZONING MAP OF THE CITY; PROVIDING A REPEALER CLAUSE, A <br />SEVERABILITY CLAUSE, A SAVINGS CLAUSE, A PENALTY CLAUSE; AND <br />PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />City Manager John Godwin explained the applicants requested a change in zoning so <br />they could build a single quadplex. He said there were single family dwellings in the area and <br />some general retail. Mr. Godwin explained the Future Land Use Plan called for general retail, <br />and that this area was a transition area so a quadplex could be a good transition. He said staff, as <br />did the Planning and Zoning Commission recommended approval. <br />Mayor Clifford opened the public hearing and asked anyone wishing to speak in support <br />or opposition of this item, to please come forward.
