Motion carried, 7 ayes — 0 nays. <br />13. Discuss, conduct a public hearing, and act on an Ordinance considering the petition of <br />Jim Lester for a change in zoning from a One -Family Dwelling (SF2) to Commercial (C), <br />on City of Paris Block 218, Lot 2, 0.1230 acres being located at 418 S.W. 13'x' Street. <br />City Manager John Godwin explained that the applicant requested a change from <br />residential to commercial to bring ongoing vehicle repair activities into compliance with the <br />city's zoning ordinance. Mr. Godwin further explained that the Future Land Use Plan called for <br />all of this area to be single family and that staff, as well as the Planning and Zoning <br />Commission recommended denial of this zoning change. <br />Council Member Trenado inquired action to be taken for non-compliance. Mr. Godwin <br />said if the Council denied the zoning, the automotive repair shop would be closed down. Mayor <br />Clifford said he agreed with city staff on this zoning case. <br />Mayor Clifford opened the public hearing and asked anyone wishing to speak 'in support <br />or opposition of,this item, to please come forward. Jim Lester, 418 32nd S.W. spoke in support <br />of the zoning change, but did say ' he was about ready to retire. With no one else': speaking, <br />Mayor Clifford closed the public hearing. <br />A Motion to deny this item was made by Mayor Clifford and seconded by Council <br />Member Trenado. Discuss, conduct a public hearing, and act on an, Ordinance considering the petition of <br />Jimmy Rowland for a change in zoning from a One -Family Dwelling (SF2) to a Multiple - <br />Family Dwelling (MF1) in the Highland Park Addition, Block 4, Lots 7-A and 8, 0.2470 <br />acres being located at 2015 and 2023 Culbertson Street. <br />City Manager John Godwin said this case was similar to the previous zoning case, in that <br />it was brought forward when code enforcement was investigating a code complaint about people <br />living in the out building. Mr. Godwin explained the current single family house had three <br />families residing in it, with one family living in the garage which was a violation of the city's <br />zoning ordinance. Mr. Godwin said staff recommended denial of this zoning change, as did the <br />Planning and Zoning Commission. <br />Mayor Clifford opened the public hearing and asked anyone wishing to speak in support <br />or opposition of this item, to please come forward. With no one speaking, Mayor Clifford closed <br />the public hearing. <br />A Motion to deny this item was made by Council Member Portugal and seconded by <br />Mayor Clifford.
