4. Commissioner Emmite and Chairman Dux shared highlights from the NAPC forum. <br />a. Main Street: a proven approach, and how vacant properties do create a loss of revenue for downtown. <br />b. Surveys, and demolition by neglect, and how people leave properties to deteriorate, and that maybe there is a <br />need to help people who want to restore their properties <br />c. Education is important to getpeople involved in a friendly way, maybe a rehab club, and maybe training with <br />younger kids to develop an appreciation for historic preservation <br />d. Chairman Dux recommended the members if at all possible attend a forum. <br />e. Chairman Dux shared about a town who had a partnership with a non-profit entity and set up an endowment <br />fund for preservation, or make loans to property owners. <br />f. Chairman Dux share that he was impressed the training, and there were a multitude ofprograms that would <br />be beneficial. One of his sessions was the economic impact of maintaining the historic downtowns, and how it <br />can really improve the community's value. <br />5. Outreach plan: <br />The commission discussed a potential mitigation plan for the stained glass windows on the church/home located <br />at 442 S. Main. <br />6. HPO report: <br />Cheri told the commission that she would prepare the list of in house approved certificates of appropriateness in <br />the next meeting's agenda. <br />Hearing no o ,r items, the meeting adjourned at 5:35 p.m. <br />100 <br />
