The chairman called the meeting to order at 4:00 P.M. <br />2. The minutes of the August 14, 2018 meeting were approved by acclamation. <br />3. Action was taken on the following certificates of appropriateness: <br />A. 17 Clarksville Street- fagade renovation, Janet Green <br />Mrs. Green is modifying certificate of appropriateness reviewed on August 8, 2018. She has been in touch with <br />the Historic Preservation officer and had a site visit from Marie Oehlerking from the Texas Main Street Program. <br />From information received from THC, she will be building a more traditional storefront with large display glass <br />flanking two 96 inch wooden French doors in the center. The transom windows are being restored and the <br />traditional storefront will line up and be symmetrical to the transoms. She is using trim to create detail in the <br />blank spaces in the bulk head, above the doors in and in the columns between the glass and the brick. <br />A motion was made to approve the certificate of appropriateness by Commissioner Dux, seconded by Matt Coyle, <br />motion carried. <br />B. 123 & 125 Lamar Ave, fagade restoration, Lucy Funk <br />Ms. Funk explained that the storefront would be returned to the original configuration. Their property is a <br />contiguous part of large building that originally had 9 bays. There are existing original storefronts on the <br />building. Proposed changes included uncovering the existing door and transom windows on 12 that has been <br />hidden behind plywood infill, and making an entry door to the second floor. The property owners intend to use <br />as their access to their residence. On 125, the property owners propose removing the large wooden infill and <br />restoring to original as much as possible. The new storefront will include a large plate glass display window <br />above a wooden bulkhead, and two smaller windows, with one being above the display window and the other <br />entry door, located on the right side. The owners have architectural drawings of the work. Door and all building <br />materials will be wooden and glass. The transom windows will be uncovered, and salvaged as much as possible, <br />and any that are unable to be salvaged, will be recreated to match the original configuration of 9 divides as <br />evidenced by the existing windows. A motion was made to approve the certificate of appropriateness by <br />Commissioner Vandiver, seconded by Commissioner Coyle. <br />4.
