Regular Council Meeting <br />October 8, 2018 <br />Page 4 <br />would benefit him to have these meetings no earlier than 4:00 p.m. Council Member Knox <br />clarified that she was referencing regular monthly business meetings, not a special meeting that <br />was called due to a prospect. Council Member Pilgrim said he was in agreement for regular <br />business meetings. Council Member Stone said consistency was good practice. Council <br />Member Hughes said he was fine with regular meetings. PEDC Director Michael Paris said they <br />were open and transparent and agreed consistency was best, but he encouraged flexibility. Mr. <br />Paris said they could pursue the third Tuesday of the month at 4:00 p.m. for their regular <br />meetings if that is what Council wanted them to do, but asked for flexibility. Council Member <br />Knox said she did not have a problem with that. <br />A Motion to require entities that receive large sums of tax funds comprising of the major <br />portion of their budget, hold their regular meetings open to the public during times that the <br />public is more likely to attend, no earlier than 4:00 p.m., was made by Council Member Knox <br />and seconded by Mayor Clifford. Motion carried, 3 ayes — 2 nays, with Council Members <br />Pilgrim and Hughes casting the dissenting votes. <br />13. Consider and approve future events for City Council and/or City Staff pursuant to <br />Resolution No. 2004-081. <br />None were referenced. <br />14. Adjournment. <br />There being no further business, a Motion to adjourn was made by Mayor Clifford and <br />was seconded by Council Member Pilgrim. Motion carried, 5 ayes — 0 nays.
