RESOLUTION NO. 94-091 WHEREAS, the Texas Department of Transportation has recently been contacted by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regarding the implementation of the Global Positioning Satellite (GPS) system for air navigation; and, WHEREAS, the FAA is currently overlaying all existing non-precision approaches with GPS approaches and expects this process to be complete within a year; and, WHEREAS, Cox Field Airport, Paris, Texas, currently has a non-precision approach, and it would be in the best interest of the flying public that a GPS approach be placed at Cox Field Airport; and, WHEREAS, the form for requesting that the FAA prepare a stand-alone GPS approach for Cox Field Airport, attached hereto as Exhibit A, should, in all things, be approved, and the Mayor, Don Shelton, should be authorized to execute the same; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OJ<' PARIS, that the request to the Texas Department of Transportation in the form of Exhibit A, attached hereto, be, and the same is hereby, approved; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Mayor of the City of Paris, Don Shelton, be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to execute on behalf of the City of Paris the request in the form of Exhibit A, attached hereto.
