Pritchett further states that she believes Ms. Short provides a <br />necessary service to the community without disrupting their neighborhood. <br />Lisa Short, 3206 Bonham Street, states she has owned the business at this location for 30 <br />years and did not know she was not in compliance, therefore, she is requesting this zoning <br />change in order to be in compliance. <br />Kim McCann, states she is speaking on behalf of her mother, Sheila Smithey, homeowner <br />at 3220 Bonham Street, as well as nine other neighbors that signed a petition expressing <br />opposition to this zoning request. McCann states they have safety concerns due to tax <br />customers walking into their yard confused by Google maps, increased traffic and illegal <br />parking. McCann states they are directly affected by loitering and this business should be <br />in a retail area with a parking lot to accommodate customers. McCann submitted the <br />petition and pictures to the commissioners. <br />Steve Thompson, 3206 Bonham Street, spoke in favor of the petition stating they are not <br />adding or changing anything. They are not growing or getting any bigger. <br />Godwin advised a letter of support was received from Jill O'Bryan, 3150 Bonham Street. <br />A copy of the letter was distributed to commissioners. <br />Public hearing declared closed. <br />Commissioner Lindsey states this is along a major thoroughfare and the future land use <br />calls for this entire corridor to be retail of some sort. Lindsey asked Godwin what is allowed <br />in Neighborhood Service. Godwin states Neighborhood Service is a light retail, typically <br />to serve a specific neighborhood and that might include a dry cleaners or donut shop but <br />not things such as a grocery store or sit down restaurants. <br />Motion was made by Keith Flowers, seconded by Chad Lindsey to approve this item. <br />Motion carried 7-0. <br />4. Public hearing to consider and take action regarding the petition of Melissa Schaffer on <br />behalf of Ben Faber for a change in zoning from a Commercial District (C) to <br />Commercial District (C) with a Specific Use Permit (SUP) for Used Auto Sales, in the <br />
