Cheri Bedford will check into the
guidelines for any changes that might allow the Country Club to be nominated. It has been in continuous operation
for over 100 years. A business can be nominated at any time since there is no deadline. 3) New guidelines for the
Texas Treasures Award allow the Sonic to be eligible, and paperwork for the Sonic has been submitted. 4) Glee
Emmite suggested we sent a welcome note to new businesses that open in the downtown area. The information can
be found through the Certificates of Occupancy that are issued by the City of Paris. Laurie Redus will pursue
implementing this idea. Cheri will check her files for a notebook used in previous years that would be beneficial to
the new businesses as well.
• William Walker reported the following: 1) He has been working with Kaydee Tate and Kari Daniel on an updated
map for downtown. 2) William is working on a new logo for Main Street since the Grand Theater committee
requested to use the theater marque as their own logo. He presented a possible logo using the Scott Building.
• Kaydee Tate discussed a "Tips for Retailers" to be made available to new businesses and possibly adding more
activities to the Hatch Chile Fest. A Mardi Gras event was mentioned for the future.
• Glee Emmite reported on the following: 1) A meet -and -greet was held on August 25, 2019 for the Church Street
Residential Area. Attendance was good, and owners/residents talked about their properties. Hopefully, in the
future, there will be a Rehab-ers Club for people excited about improving and maintaining their properties in that
area. 2) PDA is having a meeting at the 107, 8:15 AM on September 11, 2019 to discuss downtown plans for
October through December. A decorating contest will be held with the winning business to be announced at the
Christmas tree lighting program. Curb appeal is very important for successful businesses.
