Chairman Dux opened the floor for discussion. <br />Commissioner Lazar asked if the grant funds available should be divided between residential and <br />commercial as a benefit to ensure funds will be available to encourage homeowners to begin <br />repairs. Commissioner Vandiver stated that her motion was also to get everyone to start work, <br />knowing the funds are available regardless. <br />After further discussion Chairman Dux reiterated the existing motion and asked if Commissioner <br />Vandiver if she was comfortable amending the motion to include an equal division of fagade <br />grant funds available for a time period of the first 6 months of the fiscal year. Commissioner <br />Vandiver amended motion as follows: <br />All Landmark Historic Districts are eligible for fagade grants. The amount of the grant monies <br />available are in the amount of $2500 for the Commercial District, and $1000 for Residential <br />Districts. Available grants funds will be divided evenly between the Commercial and Residential <br />District for the first 6 months of the fiscal year, then any remaining funds will become available <br />for all eligible facade projects regardless of landmark designation. All fagade grant request will <br />be on a first come first serve basis as funds are available. <br />Commissioner Caffey seconded the amended motion. Motion carried 6-0 <br />There was a brief discussion on whether to eliminate painting of a house from the fagade grant <br />application, no action was taken. <br />Marvin Gorley presented the Certificate of Appropriateness for 35-39 Lamar Ave. The <br />commission reviewed some photoshop rendering of the new design with several historic photos. <br />The property owner will restore the existing transom windows, remove all wood off the front of <br />the building and rehab the existing brick and build revised store front that will be recessed 18 <br />inches from the property line. Mr. Gorley noted that the inset would not be behind the brick <br />columns. The intention was to leave the canopy intact, and also do some repairs to the fagade <br />facing 1St NW. Marvin Gorley gave the commission a brief history of the entire block where then <br />property is located. <br />Commissioner Emmite made the motion to approve his certificate of appropriateness. Seconded <br />by Commissioner Lazar and Coyle, motion carried. <br />Cheri Bedford gave the following update: <br />• Reviewed the certificated of appropriateness over the past month. <br />• Events coming in October. <br />• A window company reached out to her to see if there would be interest in partnering with <br />the commission to host a window workshop. <br />• Commissioner Vandiver is going to send out thank you notes to those who attended the <br />meet and greet with the residents. <br />• The Dr. Pepper mural should start the first of October on Clarksville and 1 It SE. <br />
