ORDINANCE NO. <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS, <br />AMENDING THE TRAFFIC CONTROL MAP ADOPTED IN SECTION 31- <br />65(b) OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS; <br />ESTABLISHING STOP SIGNS STOPPING NORTHBOUND AND <br />SOUTHBOUND TRAFFIC AT THE INTERSECTION OF CHURCH STREET <br />AND SHERMAN STREET; MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS <br />RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; PROVIDING A REPEALER CLAUSE, A <br />SEVERABILITY CLAUSE, A SAVINGS CLAUSE, A PENALTY CLAUSE; AND <br />PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />WHEREAS, the City of Paris Traffic Commission is charged with reviewing and <br />evaluating proposals to add or remove traffic control devices on City streets and roadways <br />throughout the City of Paris; and, <br />WHEREAS, the Traffic Commission has the authority to review the placement of <br />stop signs at various intersections throughout the City; and, <br />WHEREAS, the Traffic Commission, at its regular meeting of January 7, 2020, <br />considered and evaluated a request for the placement of stop signs stopping northbound <br />and southbound traffic at the intersection of Church Street and Sherman Street, an <br />intersection which currently has stop signs stopping eastbound and westbound traffic; and <br />WHEREAS, The Traffic Commission found and determined that the placement of <br />stop signs at this location in the City of Paris is necessary to provide a safe and pronounced <br />pedestrian crossing at Sherman Street for public health and safety and is in the best <br />interests of the citizens of the City of Paris; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />PARIS, TEXAS: <br />Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this ordinance are hereby in <br />all things approved. <br />Section 2. That the Traffic Control Map of the City of Paris, Texas, as amended and <br />as adopted in Paragraph (b) of Section 31-65, Chapter 31, of the Code of Ordinances of the <br />City of Paris, Texas, be, and the same is hereby, further amended to include the following <br />stop signs: <br />"Stop signs stopping northbound and southbound traffic at the intersection of <br />Church Street and Sherman Street." <br />Section 3. That all provisions of the ordinances of the City of Paris, Texas in conflict <br />with the provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed, and all other provisions of the <br />
