REGULAR MEETING MINUTES <br />MAIN STREET ADVISORY BOARD <br />Tuesday, November 12, 2019 <br />4:30 PM <br />Present: <br />Absent: <br />Glee Emmite, Chair <br />Kaydee Tate <br />Carolyn Patterson <br />Laurie Redus <br />John Brazile <br />William Walker <br />Kari Daniel <br />Clayton Pilgrim — Council Liaison <br />Becky Semple <br />Cheri Bedford, Main Street Manager <br />AGENDA <br />1. Glee Emmite called the meeting to order at 4:39 PM in the Paris City Council Chambers. <br />2. Citizens Forum — No one was present to speak. <br />3. October minutes — Minutes were emailed earlier to all board members and were available on the monitors for <br />viewing. A motion to approve the October 12, 2019 minutes was made by John Brazile, second by Kari Daniel, <br />motion carried. <br />4. Project updates and BIG awards - <br />- Daq'z Crazy and Wings — A $5,000 BIG award was presented to Raphyael Tyson, owner, for the required <br />improvements at his restaurant. The funds were used for a ventilation hood for the kitchen. A photo was taken of <br />the check, Raphyael Tyson and the board. <br />• A $5,000 BIG award was presented to Kari Daniel for a new roof at 111 Lamar Avenue. A photo was taken of the <br />check, Kari Daniel and the board. <br />5. Board Member activity reports - <br />- Glee Emmite reported that HPC did not have a meeting in October. PDA will have a meeting at 8:15 AM on <br />November 13, 2019, at Spangler's. Glee Emmite has been contacted by Walt Reep, the son of the late June Reep <br />who owned Reep's Furniture Store. Reep wants to be a part of the revitalization of downtown Paris. He hopes to <br />create a 501 c3 and establish a boutique hotel in the downtown area. Reep has scheduled a meeting on December 4th <br />at the Loft 123 to discuss the project. <br />• John Brazile reported that a promotions meeting will be held immediately following the Main Street meeting to <br />discuss holiday events. Mannequin Night was held on October 19th with an attendance estimated at 1,500. New for <br />2019, the Walking Ghost Tour was very successful. The tour was coordinated by the Drama Department at PJC. <br />Festival of Pumpkins was held on October 26th, and the event was well attended even with the rain early in the day. <br />Bywaters Park is the temporary location for the event until downtown construction is completed. <br />• Organization - Cheri Bedford reported in the absence of Laurie Redus that she has started getting the paperwork <br />ready for Wine Fest scheduled for April 4, 2020. Restaurants and wineries need to be contacted soon. Thank you <br />cards for volunteers at the Pumpkin Festival are being prepared. <br />• Becky Semple reported that a group of senior citizens from Allen, TX will be visiting downtown Paris for <br />shopping, eating, etc. on November 131. <br />6. Coordinator's Report — Cheri Bedford reported the following. <br />• The Dr Pepper mural on IIt Street will be painted soon. Scaffolding is already in place. <br />• A mini Farmers Market is open on Saturdays I l AM - 1 PM. About 8 vendors are registered. They do not sell <br />produce. <br />• Several building downtown are currently for sale with Cheri Bedford receiving calls about several others. Jeff <br />Faber reported to Bedford that he will be selling several buildings in downtown that had belonged to his uncle. <br />• In regards to the recent fire downtown, Robin Weemes reported that there was damage to the second floor in her <br />store, but the ground floor was not as badly damaged as originally believed. She plans to inspect all of her inventory <br />to determine the next steps. The state fire marshal will join the Paris Fire Marshal to investigate the cause of the <br />fire. <br />
