Discuss and act on RESOLUTION NO. 2020-018: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY <br />COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS, ACKNOWLEDGING THE RESULTS <br />OF PRIOR COUNCIL ACTION DECLARING CANDIDATES AS ELECTED TO <br />OFFICE FOR COUNCIL DISTRICTS 1, 3, AND 6 AS A RESULT OF HAVING BEEN <br />UNOPPOSED FOR ELECTION TO OFFICE; DECLARING THE TERMS OF OFFICE <br />FOR THE AFORESAID CANDIDATES; MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND <br />PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE <br />DATE. <br />City Clerk Janice Ellis said the City Council previously declared Renae Stone elected to <br />District 1; Benny Plata elected to District 3; and Clayton Pilgrim elected to District 6, as result of <br />having been unopposed for election to office. Pursuant to State Law, Ms. Ellis said it was time <br />to finalize this action. <br />A Motion to approve this item was made by Mayor Clifford and seconded by Council <br />Member Pilgrim. Motion carried, 7 ayes — 0 nays. <br />10. Issuance of Certificate of Election; Administer Statement of Elected Officer to Council <br />Members; and Administer Oath of Office to newly elected Council Members. <br />Council Members Renae Stone, Benny Plata and Clayton Pilgrim took their oaths of <br />office. <br />11. Discuss and act on an Agreement with the Southern Drag Boat Association for use of <br />Lake Crook on June 6-7, 2020, for a drag boat race event, implementing CoVid-19 <br />measures, and authorize the City Manager to execute all necessary documents. <br />City Manager Grayson Path explained that Chamber President Paul Allen approached <br />him two weeks ago about the annual drag boat races.
