REGULAR MEETING <br />CITY OF PARIS TEXAS HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION <br />WEDNESDAY May 13 2020 <br />The meeting of the Historic Preservation Commission was conducted via teleconference on <br />zoom.us <br />L. The approval of the minutes of the March 2020 meeting was table until the next meeting. <br />3. Commissioner Caffey was recused to represent Walt Reep on the Certificate of <br />Appropriateness for Fagade Improvements on 37 Clarksville ST. Ms. Caffey reviewed the <br />Certificate of Appropriateness with the commission. The owner has removed all of the metal <br />coverings the front fagade, transom windows and second floor windows. This revealed the <br />historic materials were intact and had been protected by the metal covers. The owner will be <br />restoring all the historic windows. The owner will installing a tie -rod canopy on the front of <br />the property and depending on the development of 1St Street, along the east side. The original <br />doors will be refurbished and utilized. After removal of the fagade slip cover, the original <br />brick was exposed and was intact. The brick on the bulkhead looks to be covered with a thin <br />set concrete. This area will be covered with a mosaic tile. All other brick surfaces will be <br />cleaned with the gentlest means possible. A motion was made to approve the Certificate of <br />Appropriateness as presented by Commissioner Emmite, seconded by Commissioner Hider. <br />Motion carried. <br />A motion was made by Commissioner Emmite to return Commissioner Caffey to the <br />commission. Motion seconded by Linda Vandiver, motion carried. <br />4. Ms. Bedford reviewed the minor Certificate of Appropriateness from March 13-May13 and <br />answered questions if needed. She gave an update on downtown renovations in progress. Ms. <br />Bedford let the commission know that as soon as she hears something about the educational <br />webinars presented by the National Alliance of Preservation Commissions in lieu of <br />conference, she will forward this to the commission. <br />S.
