Item No. 31 Memorandum TO: Mayor & City Council Grayson Path, City Manager FROM: Janice Ellis, City Clerk SUBJECT: APPOINTMENTS TO FILL EXISTING VACANCIES ON THE BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT DATE: July 27, 2020 BACKGROUND: Policies and Procedures for Boards, Commissions, and Committees adopted by City Council require that appointments be made at the second regular City Council meeting in June. STATUS OF ISSUE: Appointments were made on June 22 however; we did not have sufficient applicants to complete the process on that date. In addition to having one vacancy, Mr. Fisher passed away leaving a second vacancy on the Board of Adjustment. Since that time, I contacted Larry Walker who had applied for the Planning & Zoning Commission to inquire if he would be interested in serving on Board of Adjustment. He said he would be willing to do so. I also contacted William Sanders who had initially made application to serve on the Board of Adjustment but later withdrew his application. Following a brief discussion, Mr. Sanders said he would be willing to serve on the Board of Adjustment. BUDGET: N/A RECOMMENDATION: Appoint Larry Walker and William Sanders to the Board of Adjustment. Using the ballot and point method, make appoint one member to a term of two-year term and one member to a one-year term, filling the vacant position of Mr. Fisher.
