<br />INSTALLATION OF MEDIUM INTENSITY RUNWAY LIGHTS, TAXIWAY LIGHTS AND <br />TAXIWAY GUIDANCE SIGNS WITH STAKE MOUNTING <br /> <br />, <br />..i . <br /> <br />1. DESCRIPTION <br /> <br />1.1 This item shall consist of medium intensity runway or taxiway <br />lights and taxiway guidance signs for series circuits, mounted on metal <br />stakes furnished and installed in accordance with FAA specifications <br />at the locations and in conformity with the dimensions, design, and <br />details shown on the Plans. <br /> <br />Included in this item shall be the furnishing and installing of <br />transformers. This item shall also include all cable connections, the <br />furnishing and installation of all lamps, the testing of the <br />installation, and all incidentals necessary to place these signs in <br />operation as a completed unit to the satisfaction of the owner. <br /> <br />2. EQUIPMENT AND MATERIALS <br /> <br />2.1 General. <br /> <br />(a) Airport lighting equipment and materials covered by FAA <br />specifications shall have the prior approval of the Federal Aviation <br />Administration. Airports Service, Washington, D.C. 25090, and shall be <br />listed in Advisory Circular 150/5345-1, Approved Airport lighting <br />Equipment. ' <br /> <br />(b) All other equipment and materials covered by other referenced <br />specifications shall be subject to acceptance through the <br />manufacturer's certification of compliance with the applicable <br />specifications. <br /> <br />(c) Lists of the equipment and materials required for a particular <br />system are contained in the applicable advisory circulars. <br /> <br />2.2 Taxiway Guidance Signs. Lighted signs shall be Type L-858R and <br />Type L 858Y. Size 1 (18-inch sign face with a 12-inch legend) Style 2 <br />(powered from a series lighting circuit, 4.8 to 6.6 amperes), Class 2 <br />(for operation down to -55 degrees C). Mode 1 (0-100 mph wind <br />resistance). <br /> <br />2.3 Tape. Rubber and plastic electrical tapes shall be Scotch <br />Electrical Tape number 23 and 88, respectively, as manufactured by the <br />Minnesota, Mining and Manufacturing Company, or any approved equal. <br /> <br />2.4 Conc~te Anchor NOT TO BE USED <br />3. CONSTRUCTION METHODS <br /> <br />3.1 General. The installation and testing details for the systems <br />shall be as specified in the applicable advisory circulars. <br /> <br />3.2 Placing the Signs. The elevated signs shall be installed at the <br />locations shown on the plans. <br />
