HISTORIC PRESERVATION <br />MEETING MINUTES <br />WEDNESDAY April 14, 2021 <br />PRESENT <br />ABSENT: <br />Chris Dux, Chairman <br />Laura Caffey, Vice Chairman <br />GUEST <br />Linda Vandiver, Secretary <br />James Calloway <br />Matthew Coyle <br />Sims Norment <br />Jennifer Long <br />Becky Norment <br />Ryan Matthews <br />Kari Daniel <br />Glee Emmite <br />Josiah Daniel <br />Shelby Gilliam <br />Chairman Dux called the meeting to order at 4:03 p.m. <br />Meeting minutes for March 10, 2021 and March 17, 2021 were approved by acclamation. <br />The chairman recognized the following certificate of appropriateness; <br />a. 10 1St ST NE -101 Lamar Ave, general repairs and maintenance, David Cook <br />No representative was available to discuss the application therefore it was tabled. <br />b. 400 S. Church St., Church of the Holy Cross Parish, replacement roof, James Callaway <br />Mr Calloway explained the roof was in desperate need of repair. The existing front roof <br />area contains a punctuated roof line with a set of 3 windows and a porch that is a source <br />of leaks. The applicant was requesting that the windows be enclosed under new roofing, <br />and the area would now be one solid roof plane. The windows would be enclosed under <br />the new roofing in the event that in the future new owner would want to restore the roof <br />line it could be completed. The commissioner reviewed the application for congruency of <br />materials, changes in architectural detailing, roofing materials and form and if it was in <br />harmony with the district as a whole. <br />A motion was made by Commissioner Caffey stating the application for 400 Church <br />Street, .Holy Cross .Episcopal Church in regards to roof replacement from slate shingles <br />to asphalt materials and covering of the punched windows would be harmony property <br />and have no negative effect on the district as a whole. The motion was seconded by <br />Commissioner Matthews. Motion Carried. <br />A motion was made by Commissioner Matthews to grant a certificate of appropriateness <br />for 400 Church Street as presented based on the preceding finding of facts of the project <br />proposed. Motion seconded by Commissioner Emmite, Motion carried. <br />c. 606 Church -Brame St. new construction of pool house, Sims Norment <br />Mr & Mrs. Norment were available to discuss the application. Chairman.Dux <br />reviewed the standards for new construction. Each commissioner had a chance to review <br />
