Steve Hellmann motioned to approve, with Melanie Loughmiller
adding the second.
IL New Business:
a. Volunteers
Ron Hervey stated that volunteers have been calling to ask when the library will
allow volunteers to come back to the library. Ron wanted to hear the opinion of
the board members. Melanie Loughmiller thought it was a great idea, with Lauren
Matthews in agreement. Melanie asked how the staff felt about volunteers coming
back and Ron replied, stating that the staff were continuing to wear face masks
and the board discussed if the volunteers would be required to also wear face
masks. Ultimately, the members of the board agreed that volunteers could return
to the library, while following the same rules as the library employees, which
currently wear masks at work.
b. Summer Kids Program (Tracy Clark)
Tracy presented the members of the board with her Summer Kids Reading
Program plans and information on upcoming children's performers, including
musicians and Officer Curtis Garrett with Crime Stoppers. She mentioned that the
Friends of the Library graciously pay half of all performance invoices.
Tracy provided several different colored informational sheets, with the bright
colors acting as a way for patrons to easily identify the various program offerings.
The yellow sheet showed details of the Children's Programs for June 2021.
