Item No. 10 <br />Memorandum <br />TO: Mayor, Mayor Pro -Tem & City Council <br />Grayson Path, City Manager <br />FROM: Randy Tuttle, Assistant Chief of Police <br />SUBJECT: EDWARD BYRNE MEMORIAL JUSTICE ASSISTANCE GRANT <br />DATE: November 8, 2021 <br />BACKGROUND: In February 2021 the Paris Police Department was informed of the opportunity <br />to apply for the Department of Justice Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistant Grant made <br />available to local jurisdictions through the Ark -Tex Council of Governments. <br />STATUS OF ISSUE: The Paris Police Department made application for the grant to purchase ten <br />(10) Kenwood TK -5720 VHF P25 Digital Mobile Radios at a cost of $11,475.00. The purchase of <br />these radios will allow the department to replace aging radios in our police vehicles. The Paris <br />Police Department was recently informed this grant had been awarded. Prior to accepting, the local <br />governing body must approve a resolution in support of the grant. <br />BUDGET: Purchase of accessories such as antennas or cables may be needed which will come <br />from the current budget. <br />RECOMMENDATION: Recommend council approve the resolution <br />
