RESOLUTION NO. <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS, <br />SUPPORTING THE ACCCEPTANCE OF THE EDWARD BYRNE MEMORIAL <br />JUSTICE ASSISTANCE GRANT (JAG) PROGRAM POLICE VHF RADIO <br />GRANT, APPLICATION NUMBER 4268001; AUTHORIZING THE <br />EXPENDITURE OF FUNDS; ACCEPTING SAID GRANT AWARD; <br />AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF ANY AND ALL DOCUMENTS <br />NECESSARY FOR ACCEPTANCE AND IMPLEMENTATION OF SAID GRANT <br />UPON RECEIPT THEREOF; MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS <br />RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />WHEREAS, the United States Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance, <br />Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program, provides funding for local <br />law enforcement grants; and, <br />WHEREAS, after making application for a grant in February 2021, the City of Paris <br />has been notified of the award of $11,475.00 in funding under said Grant Program; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris is desirous of receiving said grant in <br />the amount of $11,475.00 of which the City will utilize entirely to purchase ten (10) Kenwood <br />TK -5720 VHF P25 Digital Mobile Radios; and <br />WHEREAS, the radios will be used to communicate with the Lamar County Sheriff's <br />Office and other neighboring law enforcement entities that use only VHF frequency radios; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, it is deemed to be in the best interest of the citizens of Paris that the City <br />Council of the City of Paris, Texas accept said Grant for the purchase of the VHF frequency <br />radios to replace outdated equipment; and, <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />PARIS, TEXAS: <br />Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby in <br />all things approved. <br />Section 2. That acceptance of the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant <br />(JAG) Program, Police VHF Radio Grant, Application Number 4268001 is hereby approved <br />by the City Council of the City of Paris, Texas. <br />Section 3. That the City Manager be, and he is hereby, appointed as the Authorized <br />Official of said project and is authorized and directed to execute, on behalf of the City of Paris, <br />any documents for said grant acceptance. <br />
