This will serve both our rental property owners and tenants in assuring the safety of the dwellings <br />occupied in these historic district properties. <br />An example has been attached with a standardized inspection checklist which shows all the items <br />that an inspector will review and inspect for during each visit. Advanced appointments would be <br />scheduled for rental properties with the landlord owners, or their representatives. The land owner <br />would in turn notify all tenants in their rental properties in advance of each inspection date <br />according to standard property tenant notification provisions under law. Staff has also worked to <br />develop a list of potential rental properties within all the historic districts as a means for initiating <br />the first rental licensing application procedures for rental properties. At total of 55- properties were <br />identified in an initial study of potential rental properties within the district. An introductory letter <br />would be mailed out upon approval of the new requirement once approved by the City Council. <br />Again, this would apply only to the Historic Districts in the City and not for the entire City <br />incorporated jurisdiction. This original draft code amendment was brought to the HPC for initial <br />review and recommendation due to the role of the Commission in the historic districts of the City. <br />Recommendation <br />Approval of an Ordinance Amending the Rental Property Maintenance & Vacant Building <br />Registrations for all Residential properties in the Historic Overlay Districts 1-16. <br />Page 2 of 2 <br />
