Regular Council Meeting <br />June 27, 2022 <br />Page 9 <br />membership and referenced that Linda Vandiver was currently serving as the Historical Society <br />member, that Ryan Matthews owns property in the Historic District, that Matt Coyle lived in the <br />Historic District and Jennifer Long owned property in the Historic District and lived in the <br />Historic District. <br />A Motion to appoint Ms. Vandiver, Mr. Matthews, Mr. Coyle and Ms. Long to the <br />Historic Preservation Commission was made by Council Member Savage and seconded by <br />Council Member Pankaj. Motion carried, 7 ayes — 0 nays. <br />Ms. Ellis said there were four vacancies on the Housing Authority Board and that under <br />State Law, the Mayor makes those appointments. Mayor Portugal appointed Jenny Wilson, T.K. <br />Haynes and Beverly Johnson to the Board. Council Member Savage confirmed that the <br />remaining vacant position was for a resident of public housing. Mayor Portugal asked Staff to <br />re -advertise for this Board. <br />Ms. Ellis said there were two vacancies on the Library Advisory Board and read the <br />names of the applicants. Upon completion of City Council scoring the ballots, City Staff tallied <br />the points given to each applicant and Ms. Ellis announced the two persons receiving the most <br />points were Amy Watson and Melanie Loughmiller. A Motion to appoint the two nominees to <br />the Library Advisory Board was made by Council Member Pankaj and seconded by Mayor Pro - <br />Tem Hughes. Motion carried, 7 ayes — 0 nays. <br />Ms. Ellis said there were three vacancies on the Main Street Advisory Board and read the <br />names of the applicants. Upon completion of City Council scoring the ballots, City Staff tallied <br />the points given to each applicant and Ms. Ellis announced the three persons receiving the most <br />points were Kari Daniel, Tracy Dougherty and Chad Lindsey. A Motion to appoint the three <br />nominees to the Main Street Advisory Board was made by Council Member Pankaj and <br />seconded by Council Member Pilgrim. Motion carried, 7 ayes — 0 nays. <br />Ms. Ellis said there were three vacancies on the Traffic Commission and the two persons <br />who had applied were Eric Guillot and John Darst. A Motion to appoint Mr. Guillot and Mr. <br />Darst to the Traffic Commission and re -advertise for another member was made by Council <br />Member Pilgrim and seconded by Council Member Knox. Motion carried, 7 ayes — 0 nays. <br />23. Discuss and appoint City Council Members to serve as liaisons to the various Boards and <br />Commissions. <br />Mayor Portugal said some of the boards require the Mayor to serve as an ex -officio <br />member, and proceeded through the list of Boards and Commissions. <br />PEDC — Mayor Portugal said the Bylaws require the Mayor to serve as ex -officio. <br />Council Member Pankaj, Council Member Pilgrim and Mayor Pro -Tem Hughes volunteered to <br />serve as the Council liaison. <br />Airport Advisory Board — Council Member Savage volunteered to serve as the Council <br />liaison. <br />
