Paris Public Library Advisory Board <br />06/15/2022 <br />Meeting Minutes <br />Call to Order: <br />The regular meeting of the Paris Public Library Advisory Board was called to order by <br />Chairman Steve Hellman at 4:06 pm. <br />Present: <br />Board members present were: Steve Hellmann, Eva Dickey, Jennifer Cullum, and <br />DeEtte Cobb. Interim Director Ron Hervey was also present, as well as Assistant City <br />Manager Rob Vine. Board members absent were: Myers Hurt, Melanie Loughmiller, <br />Lauren Mathews, and City Council Liaison Linda Knox. <br />Citizens Forum: No citizens addressed the library board. <br />III. Approval: Minutes of the May 25th, 2022 meeting were approved, with the <br />correction to add the time of the meeting adjournment time of approximately 5:05 <br />pm. Eva Dickey motioned to approve the minutes, with DeEtte Cobb providing the <br />second. <br />IV. New Business: Children's Summer Programs with Tracy Clark. Tracy provided the <br />May June event flyer for the Children's Programs to all board members to review, <br />while she provided highlights of upcoming events. <br />a. The Master Gardeners of Lamar County hosted a Green Thumb event on May 14, <br />for children to come and learn about gardening with hands-on demonstrations. <br />Tracy said that there was a good turn -out and hopes that the partnership will <br />continue. <br />b. The Splash Kingdom Reading Club had 130 people sign up at the kick-off event, <br />with 201 kids signed up so far. Children will read (or have books read to them) a <br />total of 10 books and turn in their reading log to be eligible for their name to be <br />put in a drawing for a Splash Kingdom Water Park ticket. 40 names will be drawn <br />for winners. <br />c. Pre -K Story Time is going well, with 60 people showing up. Story Time meets at <br />the deck outside, but in inclement weather, the class will be held inside. <br />d. Brett Roberts on June 10 for the 14th year, to perform his "The Gone Fishing <br />Magic Show" to children ages 4-12. The show was moved to City Hall because of <br />the rain, and with 113 people in attendance, Tracy said that she was very <br />grateful for the indoor experience. <br />e. Three more performers for children will be held in June, with two different magic <br />shows and a new chemistry show. So far, two performers are already scheduled <br />for J uly. <br />
