Regular Council Meeting <br />December 12, 2022 <br />Page 2 <br />honorary award issued by the Texas Historical Commission. Mr. Amos gave a brief history of <br />the bank and said it was an honor to accept the award. <br />B. Citizens' Forum. <br />Glee Emmite — she said he had been in Paris for forty-four years, had two businesses and <br />that downtown was dangerous without stop signs. <br />Ruth Ann Alsobrook, 208-5t' S.W. — she said she was definitely in support of downtown <br />stop signs. <br />Marshall Dougherty, 2905 Oak Creek — he said he was in favor of downtown stop signs <br />or some other method of slowing people down. <br />Laura Hutchings, instructor at Paris Community Theater — she said she witnessed drag <br />racing downtown withoutthe stop signs in place and that she actually got"hitin a stop walk. <br />3 <br />Kari Daniel, 111 Lamar Avenue — she said she and her family lived downtown, had two <br />businesses and pedestrians ,were not safe without stop signs. She said the people downtown <br />wanted the stops signs back in place. <br />4E ' <br />Dustin Broadway; owner of Deadcat Media — he said he was in favor of stop signs.. <br />Suzy Harper, 545 Johnson Woods — she said she was disappointed in the survey and <br />asked if the City could work with TxDOT and rethink this. <br />Martha Hallison, 1125 -34th S.E. — she said she went downtown every day and it was safer <br />with stop signs. <br />Lea Emerson, 27 Clarksville Street, partner at Deadcat Media — she said it was safer <br />downtown with stop signs. <br />Matt Coyle, 1127 Main Street, owner of Loft Apartments downtown — he said having <br />stop signs was a huge impact for the safety of pedestrians. <br />Judy Daniel, Chamber employee — she said 18 wheelers gas -it when they are trying to <br />make the green lights downtown, and on one occasion had she not been paying attention, she <br />would have been a grease spot in the street. <br />Mayor Portugal asked for everyone in support of stop signs to please stand. <br />Consent A Benda <br />Mayor Portugal inquired of Council Members if they wished to pull any items from the <br />consent agenda for discussion. There being none, a Motion to approve the consent agenda was <br />made by Council Member Pankaj and seconded by Council Member Knox. Motion carried, 5 <br />ayes — 0 nays. <br />
