SPECIAL MEETING <br />MINUTES <br />CITY OF PARIS BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT <br />CITY OF PARIS - CITY HALL <br />COUNCIL CHAMBERS CONFERENCE ROOM <br />PARIS, TEXAS <br />TUESDAY JANUARY 3" 2023 <br />12:00 O'CLOCK P.M. <br />The Board ofAdjustment meeting was called to order by RuthAnn Alsobrook at 12: 00 p.m. <br />The following members were present: RuthAnn Alsobrook, Larry Walker, Lydia <br />Fitzgerald, Carlton Cooper and Alix Putnam. <br />Also present were Andrew Mack, Robert Vine, Stephanie Harris, Mayor Portugal and <br />concerned citizens. <br />2. Approval of minutes from previous meeting. (September 6, 2022) <br />Motion was made by Lydia Fitzgerald, seconded by Larry Walker to approve minutes for the <br />September 6, 2022 meeting. Motion carried 5-0. <br />3. Public hearing to consider and take action on the petition of Tad Eudy, on behalf of, <br />First Baptist Church regarding variances to the City of Paris Certificate of <br />Appropriateness and Sign Ordinances on Lots 6-9, City Block 181, being located at 207 <br />South Church Street, sections as follows: <br />1) 9.05-007 Variance to allow a sign that does not follow the adopted <br />design guidelines. <br />2) 4.10.0044 Variance to allow a sign that is not made from an <br />approved finish material. <br />3) 4.10.047(b)(1) Variance to allow a sign not specifically permitted by <br />ordinance. <br />4) 4.10.047(b)(2) Variance to allow a sign that flashes or blinks. <br />Andrew Mack, Director of Planning & Zoning, presented case to the board. Mr. Mack continues <br />by explaining the procedure of approval for signage in the Historical District and the requirement <br />of the variance before the Historical Preservation Board considers the sign. Lastly, Mr. Mack <br />states that the City recommends denial of the variances. <br />Chairperson RuthAnn Alsobrook makes note of the input forms submitted as follows: <br />Holland Harper of 260 S Church St, in favor. <br />
