International Mechanical Code and the 2020 National Electrical Code as the best uniform building and electrical codes to provide uniform guidelines and regulations for all property, buildings and structures by providing the standards for supplied utilities and facilities and other physical things and conditions essential to ensure that structures are safe, sanitary and fit for occupation and use and the condemnation of buildings and structures unfit for human occupancy and use and the demolition of such structures in the City of Paris, Texas; and, WHEREAS, on April 10, 2023, the City Council held public hearings on proposed adoption of amendments to said codes; and WHEREAS, after considering testimony from the public hearings referenced above, the City Council deems it to be in the best interest of the City of Paris and its citizens to repeal the existing 2015 Editions of International Building Code, the International Residential Code, the International Existing Building Code, the International Plumbing Code, the International Fuel Gas Code, and the International Mechanical Code and to adopt the 2021 Editions of same; and to repeal the 2014 Edition of the National Electrical Code and adopt the 2020 Edition of same; and to make certain amendments to the 2021 International Property Maintenance Code as amended with local amendments as set out below. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS: Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this ordinance are hereby in all things approved. Section 2. That Chapter 4, "Building Regulations," Article 4.02, "Construction Codes," Division 2, "Building Code," as it now exists shall be and is hereby repealed and replaced with the following text: "Division 3 Building Code § 4.02.031 Building Code Adopted. (a) De 'inition. For purposes of this division, the following definition shall apply:'Building code" shall mean the 2015 2021 International Building Code (sometimes referred to as LUCI including any and all amendments, revisions, or revised additions to the 2019 2021 International Building Code. (b) Ado .t ion. In conformance with Texas Local Government Code, chapter 214, subchapter G, sections 214.211 through 214.214, the 2015 2021 International Building Code, including appendices C, E, F, G, and J, is hereafter adopted as the municipal building code for the city.
