No. 11 <br />TO: Mayor, Mayor Pro Tem & City Council <br />FROM: Tracy Pounders, Tax Director, Abernathy Roeder Boyd Hullett <br />SUBJECT: Redemption of Trustee Property <br />DATE: September 25, 2023 <br />W M* K41 Kfi 1A IJ -13 <br />The vacant property known as LCAD ID #11000 (no street address, but is located just south of <br />1010 Clement Road) was foreclosed and offered for sale on March 7, 2023. There were no offers <br />and it was struck off to the City of Paris as Trustee. <br />STATUS OF ISSUE: <br />Texas Tax Code 34.21 provides the conditions for which a prior owner may purchase back <br />(redeem) a property sold at a tax sale. Gary Cooper and Louis Glover, the heirs of the prior owner, <br />have satisfied the requirements of Sec. 34.21, including the payment of $2,430.00, and are <br />consequently entitled to redeem the property. <br />BUDGET: <br />No budgetary item. This property was foreclosed, therefore all delinquent property taxes and liens <br />are forgiven. The four taxing entities will divide the payment, minus court and tax attorney fees <br />and expenses, pursuant to Property Tax Code. <br />OPTIONS: <br />1. Approve a resolution authorizing the Mayor to execute the redemption deed. <br />2. Request additional information. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />1.
