Iii i September 25, 2023 Page 8 City Clerk Janice Ellis explained that every two years the City was asked to provide the Chief Appraiser the nominate someone as a City representative to serve on the Lamar County Appraisal District Board. She said the City had 614 votes and they could nominate more than one person but it might mean they would not get a representative on the Board. Ms. Ellis said there were twelve taxing entities and only five board member positions. Council Member Pilgrim said he thought they might want to look at getting a representative on the board that knew about real estate and surveying due to the complaints received throughout about the property values. It was a consensus of City Council for Mayor Pro -Tern Pankaj and Council Meniber Pilgrim to work together to recruit a nominee and bring the name back to the Council. A Motion to table this item until the October 9ffi City Council meeting was made by Council Member Kcssel and seconded by Council Member Savage. Motion carried, 6 ayes — 0 nays. 31. Discuss and act on ORDINANCE NO. 2023-063- AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OFTHE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE ISSUANCE OF A SOLID WASTE COLLECTION PERMIT TO PRO -D, LLC. FOR THE PURPOSE OF ENGAGING IN THE BUSINESS OF COLLECTING AND/OR TRANSPORTING SOLID WASTE FROM COMMERCIAL AND INDUSTRIAL UNITS WITHIN THE CITY LIMITS OF THE CITY OF PARTS, TEXAS; FINDING A PUBLIC NECESSITY AND CONVENIENCE FOR ISSUANCE OF SAID PERMIT; MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT, AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. Ms. Ellis said she would cover items 32 and 33 at the same time. She explained that Pro - D and CB Rentals, LLC were both new solid waste companies to Paris, who had submitted applications and required insurance certificates. A Motion to approve this item was made by Mayor Pro -Tem Pankaj and seconded by Council Member Pilgrim. Motion carried, 6 ayes — 0 nays. 32, Disc -Liss and act on ORDINANCE NO. 2023-064: AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF TIDE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE ISSUANCE OF A SOLID WASTE COLLECTION PERMIT TO CB RENTALS, LLC FOR THE PURPOSE OF ENGAGING IN THE BUSINESS OF COLLECTING AND/OR TRANSPORTING SOLID WASTE FROM COMMERCIAL AND INDUSTRIAL UNITS WITHIN THE CITY LIMITS OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS; FINDING A PUBLIC NECESSITY AND CONVENIENCE FOR ISSUANCE OF SAID PERMIT; MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; AND DECLATING .AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
