Paris Public Library Advisory Board <br />08/16/2023 <br />Meeting Minutes <br />Call to Order: <br />The regular meeting of the Paris Public Library Advisory Board was called to order by <br />Chairman Steve Hellmann at 5:01 p.m. <br />Board members present were: Steve Hellmann, Jennifer Cullum, Amy Watson, <br />Melanie Loughmiller, and DeEtte Cobb. Kelvin Hicks and Myers Hurt were absent. <br />Also present were Library Director Connie Lawman, Friends of the Library <br />representative Audrey Mathieu, along with Assistant City Manager Rob Vine. <br />Citizens Forum: <br />No citizens addressed the library board. <br />III. Approval: <br />Minutes of the July 19, 2023 meeting minutes were approved with no corrections. <br />Amy Watson made the motion to approve, with Melanie Loughmiller providing the <br />second. <br />IV. New Business: <br />a. Officer Elections <br />Steve Hellmann was named as Chairman of the Board. Amy Watson made <br />the nomination, Amy Loughmiller placed the motion to approve, with <br />Jennifer Cullum providing the second. <br />Melanie Loughmiller was named as the Vice Chairman of the Board. Steve <br />Hellmann made the nomination, Amy Loughmiller placed the motion to <br />approve, with Jennifer Cullum providing the second. <br />iii. Jennifer Cullum was named as the Secretary of the Board. Steve <br />Hellmann made the nomination, Melanie Loughmiller placed the motion <br />to approve, with Amy Watson providing the second. <br />b. Staff Introductions <br />Paula Raider was introduced as a Library Technician. She lives in Paris with her <br />family and has been here for 23 years. Paula stated that she is responsible for <br />book repairs, new book processing, displays, cataloging, circulation and shelving. <br />Paula says this has been a great job, with very good experiences. <br />Audrey asked if there's anything Paula needed in order to make her job easier. <br />Paula responded, saying that her job is great and she can't think of anything she <br />immediately needs. Steve asked what was her biggest challenge of the job. Paula <br />responded, stating that displays can be stressful, stating in the past, she didn't <br />have a budget so she had to make everything on her own. But now, Connie <br />
