offers financial assistance. Connie added that the displays need to be up to date <br />and fresh. Steve asked if there was any controversy regarding the displays, to <br />which Paula replied with a previous display that was made to be humorous, <br />which showed a shirtless man on it. The library received no complaints. There <br />are also displays showing support for issues like breast cancer awareness, which <br />received many positive comments. <br />c. John T. Biggers painting and the Grace Museum <br />The city attorney created the official agreement and sent to the Grace Museum. <br />The City of Paris is waiting on the Grace Museum to respond. The Paris Public <br />Library was invited to the Opening Night on October 15, 2023. The estimated <br />date timeframe for the painting to be picked up is the beginning of October. <br />d. Library Employee Job Titles <br />After having time and opportunity to fully observe the staff, Connie determined <br />that the position titles for the library staff did not make sense. Moving forward, <br />the employee chain of command will be as follows: <br />Connie: Library Director <br />Ron: Library Supervisor <br />Tracy: Children's Librarian <br />All other staff: Library Technician with assigned duties <br />A few employees received raises with the position updates. Connie said that the <br />changes received positive responses from the employees. The Librarian <br />Technician position will have steps, with an annual increase presented to the <br />board. <br />e. September plans for Library Card Signup month <br />Connie stated that this is a huge event. Board member Kelvin Hicks is getting in <br />touch with the Director of Adult Services at PJC for ways to sign people and the <br />library is also interested in setting up tables at the local high schools for library <br />card sign ups. Steve stated that having a library card signup table at schools <br />could possibly cause a political issue. Connie responded, stating that parents <br />would still be required to have a signature for their child's library card. Rob Vine <br />noted that there would be an official press release, to help the public understand <br />what the library's goals are. Connie said that she is trying to market audiences <br />that wouldn't normally come to the library. <br />Connie also mentioned that she needs a new map drawn for the library, so that <br />people can see where all of the new areas are in the building. <br />Connie would like to have an outreach fundraiser with local businesses that are <br />willing to have designated days that allow for a percentage of the profits to be <br />given to the library. Connie suggested having bookmarks made with the <br />business's name on them for participants to take to the location, purchase an <br />
