STATUS OF ISSUE: <br />An evaluation committee of Mayor Reginald Hughes, Mayor Pro Tem Mihir Pankaj, City Engineer <br />Todd Mittge, and Engineering Technician Steve Hodges performed evaluations on each of the 5 <br />firms. Scoring was based on the following: <br />After all of the scoring was tallied, MTG Engineers of Greenville, Texas was selected with an <br />average total score of 98.25. Detailed scoring information is available to the City Council upon <br />request. Also attached is the resolution authorizing the selection of MTG Engineers. Should the <br />City Council approve this resolution, City Staff will then begin contract negotiations, including <br />obtaining reasonable fees for their service to be brought back to the City Council for approval. For <br />engineering agreements, they are not awarded based on lowest bid, but rather on most qualified. <br />BUDGET: <br />The City was awarded $500,000 in the Texas Community Development Block Grant. The design <br />engineering for this project will come from a combination of city funds and CDBG funds. <br />OPTIONS: <br />1. Approve a resolution authorizing the selection of MTG Engineers for the street and utility <br />design of 1" Street SE between Lamar Avenue and Clarksville Street and authorize City <br />Staff to enter contract and pricing negotiations with MTG Engineers, to be brought back to <br />the City Council for approval. <br />2. Request more information regarding the other four firms, including our review teams' score <br />cards for review and discussion. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Approve a resolution authorizing the selection of MTG Engineers for the street and utility <br />design of 1St Street SE between Lamar Avenue and Clarksville Street and authorize City <br />Staff to enter contract and pricing negotiations with MTG Engineers, to be brought back to <br />the City Council for approval. <br />
