Paris Public Library Advisory Board <br />04/17/2024 <br />Meeting Minutes <br />Call to order: <br />The regular meeting of the Paris Public Library Advisory Board was called to order by <br />The Chairman Steve Hellmann at 5:02 p.m. <br />Board members present: Steve Hellmann, Jennifer Cullum, Myers Hurt, DeEtte Cobb, <br />Kelvin Hicks and Melanie Loughmiller. Connie Lawman, Deputy City Manager Rob Vine, <br />Representative from Friends of the Library Jeannie Walter and library patron Abigail <br />Frank. <br />II. Citizen's Forum: <br />No citizens addressed the board. <br />III. Approval: The minutes of the March 20th, 2024 board meeting were approved <br />with no concerns. Motion by Melanie Loughmiller to approve the minutes, <br />second by Myers Hurt <br />IV. New Business: <br />a. Rebecca, staff member since 2001. Her main job is cataloging new materials, <br />but she also works the checkout counter and helps with shelving. She maintains <br />the fish tank and helps in the Children's room. <br />b. Strategic Goals: <br />After brainstorming last months' list, Steve recommended working through one goal per <br />meeting and move to prioritizing later. Enhancing Services ideas include: <br />i. Outreach in Community: <br />*Maxey House tours can be checked out at circ counter <br />*Boys & Girls Club will send kids to Library in Summer <br />*Visiting/provide materials for Assisting Living sites <br />*Kelvin praised Connie for her help with his Summer Library programs for <br />his students at PJC <br />ii. Displays & Learning Spaces <br />*3D printer available - ideas include: staff working to teach patrons how to do <br />original printing <br />*Looking for people who may have ideas for a patent <br />*Checkout Kits - kits include: materials plus 1 book, 1 puzzle and 1 magazine <br />Library has purchased 3 new kits including "Sharpen your Saw" <br />*Seed Library - in place <br />*Magazines circulating on an honor system, possibly moving to a more permanent <br />mechanism for this type of circulation <br />
