Minutes <br />Traffic Commission <br />City of Paris <br />The Traffic Commission met on Tuesday August 01, 2023 at 5:15 P.M. in the <br />Police Department Emergency Operations Center with the following members <br />present: <br />1. <br />Wendell Moore <br />2. <br />Sandi Kear <br />3. <br />John Darst <br />4. <br />Eric Guillot <br />The city staff was represented by Asst. Chief Randy Tuttle, City Engineer Todd <br />Mittge, and Main Street Coordinator Cheri Bedford. <br />Wendell Moore called the meeting to order at 5:15pm. A quorum was established <br />with four members present. <br />Mr. Moore then moved to item #2 regarding discussion and possible action <br />concerning election of Traffic Commission Chairperson. Mr. Moore opened the <br />floor for nominations and Mr. Guillot nominated Ms. Kear. There were no other <br />nominations. Mr. Darst then second Mr. Guillot's nomination and it passed 4-0. <br />Ms. Kear assumed her duties then moved to item #3 regarding discussion and <br />possible action concerning election of Traffic Commission Vice -Chairperson. Mr. <br />Moore nominated himself. There were no other nominations. Mr. Guillot second <br />Mr. Moore's nomination and it passed 4-0. <br />Ms. Kear then moved to item #4 regarding approval of minutes from July 05, <br />2022 meeting. Mr. Darst made a motion to approve the minutes and it was <br />second by Mr. Guillot. Motion passed 4-0. <br />Ms. Kear then moved to item #5 regarding a presentation by TXDOT concerning <br />the installation of a raised median on Lamar Avenue between 33rd and 42nd <br />streets. Dan Perry, representing TXDOT, appeared before members. Mr Perry <br />said TXDOT was developing plans to construct an 8" median on Lamar Avenue <br />between 33rd and 42nd streets that will include areas for turns. A diagram of the <br />design was presented during his presentation. Mr. Perry said approximately <br />19,000 vehicles a day use Lamar at Loop 286 and with the development in the <br />area and increase of traffic over the years it has become necessary to install the <br />median for traffic safety and improve traffic flow. Mr. Perry said the plan was to <br />let bids this fall and begin construction in early 2024. After a few questions from <br />members there was positive response to the plan presented.
