TXDOT would be working with City Staff as this plan develops and moves <br />forward to the construction phase. <br />Ms. Kear then moved to item #6 regarding discussion and possible action <br />concerning speed limit in 1400 block E. Sherman St. City Engineer Todd Mittge <br />informed members he had received a complaint from Paris Housing Authority <br />about speeding vehicles and large trucks backing over curbs and tearing up <br />grass on Housing Authority property as the trucks backed into the Kroger drive. <br />Sherman Court, a Paris Housing Authority complex, is located south of the <br />Kroger loading/unloading dock. Mr. Mittge stated the Housing Authority planned <br />to place large boulders two feet from the curb to keep trucks from damaging the <br />yard. Mr Mittge further stated he is also requesting the speed limit be reduced <br />from 30 mph to 20 mph citing pedestrian traffic lacking sidewalks, proximity to the <br />Kroger loading/unloading dock, limited length of street, mid -block T intersection, <br />and 90 degree bend of street at 14th SE. After discussion Mr. Moore made a <br />motion to request City Council consider lowering the speed limit in 1400 block E. <br />Sherman from 30 mph to 20 mph. A second was made by Mr. Darst and motion <br />passed 4-0. <br />Ms. Kear then moved to item #7 regarding discussion and possible action <br />concerning the removal of No Parking Zone on east side of 2nd SW from Austin to <br />Sherman streets. Main Street Coordinator Cheri Bedford presented to members <br />that with the growth of the Farmers Market there is a need for more parking in the <br />area around the Farmers Market. Mr. Tuttle informed members that a month long <br />trial had been conducted by allowing parking in the proposed area. Ms. Bedford <br />reported there has been no issues during this trial period. Mr. Guillot made a <br />motion to request City Council consider removing the No Parking Zone on east <br />side of 2nd SW from Austin to Sherman to allow parking. Mr. Darst made a <br />second and motion carried 4-0. <br />Ms. Kear then moved to item #8 concerning and old business. There was none <br />Ms. Kear then moved to item #9 concerning future agenda items. There was <br />none. <br />At 6:18pm Ms. Kear made a motion to adjourn the meeting.
