Generator Project, City of Wharton, Wharton, Texas
FEMA approved the application submitted by the City of Wharton for a $1.8 million generator proj-
ect. The HMGP provided the federal share of $1,338,842 under FEMA -4332 -DR -TX. The City of Whar-
ton will provide the non-federal match requirement of $446,281. The City of Wharton will purchase and
install four generators. Three generators will be at the water plants, and one at the wastewater treatment
plant. This project will always keep positive pressure on the water system to maintain crucial water quali-
ty during a natural hazard, transformer blowing, or a power surge. Treating this water before discharging
it into the receiving stream as treated wastewater is critical. The environmental benefits will decrease the
chances of sewage backup and increase public sanitation efforts.
