Item No. 11 <br />TO: Mayor, Mayor Pro -Tem & City Council <br />Robert Vine, Interim City Manager <br />FROM: Randy Tuttle, Assistant Chief of Police <br />SUBJECT: STOP SIGNS <br />DATE: December 04, 2024 <br />BACKGROUND: Complaints were received from citizens on W. Washington street concerning <br />speed of vehicles travelling east/west on Washington. A request was made to consider erecting <br />stops signs at 4th SW & Washington to stop east/west traffic. There are currently stops signs at this <br />intersection stopping north/south bound vehicles. A traffic/speed study was conducted on W. <br />Washington Street during the month of October 2024. The results were submitted to City Engineer <br />Todd Mittge for review. Along with review of the study, Mr. Mittge conducted a site survey of <br />this area. As a result, stops signs were recommended at 4th SW & Washington stopping east/west <br />vehicles, making this intersection a four way stop. <br />STATUS OF ISSUE: On December 03, 2024 the City of Paris Traffic Commission considered <br />this issue after a presentation by Mr. Mittge and voted 5-0 to recommend the City Council consider <br />approval of installing stops signs for east/west traffic at 4th SW & Washington, making it a four <br />way stop. <br />BUDGET: Anticipated $200.00 impact on current budget <br />RECOMMENDATION: Approve ordinance amending the Traffic Control Map installing stops <br />signs for east/west traffic at 4th SW & Washington. <br />
