ORDINANCE NO. AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS, AMENDING THE TRAFFIC CONTROL MAP ADOPTED IN SECTION 11.02.005 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS ADDING STOP SIGNS ON WEST WASHINGTON STREET AT ITS INTERSECTION WITH 4TH SW STREET STOPPING EAST AND WEST- BOUND TRAFFIC ON WEST WASHINGTON STREET; MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; PROVIDING A REPEALER CLAUSE, A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE, A SAVINGS CLAUSE, A PENALTY CLAUSE; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City of Paris Traffic Commission is charged with reviewing and evaluating proposals to add or remove traffic control devices on city streets and roadways throughout the City of Paris; and, WHEREAS, among those traffic control devices evaluated by the Traffic Commission is the placement of stop signs at various intersections throughout the city; and, WHEREAS, the City received complaints from citizens on West Washington Street concerning speed of vehicles traveling east/west on the street and said citizens requested stop signs on east and west bound West Washington Street at 4th SW Street, creating a four way stop; and WHEREAS, the Traffic Commission, at its regular meeting on December 3, 2025, considered and evaluated the request from citizens for the placement of stop signs on West Washington Street at its intersection with 4th SW Street stopping east and west -bound traffic on West Washington Street and, having done so, found and determined that the placement of stop signs at this location in the City of Paris is necessary to protect the public health and safety and is in the best interests of the citizens of the City of Paris; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS: Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this ordinance are hereby in all things approved and are incorporated herein for all purposes. Section 2. That the Traffic Control Map of the City of Paris, Texas, as amended, and as adopted in Section 11.02.005 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Paris, Texas, be, and the same is hereby, further amended to include the following stop signs:
