Planning Director Osei Amo-Mensah said the current use as an Aerofit Health Club was classified as a private recreational facility which was allowed as a Specific Use Permit. He explained the applicant was requesting a rezoning to General District for the fitness gym as a permitted use and if approved, a Specific Use Permit would no longer be required. Mayor Pankaj opened the public hearing and asked for anyone wishing to speak in support or opposition, to please come forward. With no one speaking, Mayor Pankaj closed the public hearing. A Motion to approve this item was made by Council Member Kessel and seconded by Mayor Pro -Tem Savage. Motion carried, 6 ayes — 0 nays. 14. Discuss, conduct a public hearing and act on ORDINANCE NO. 2024-045: AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS AMENDING ZONING ORDINANCE NO. 1710 OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS, AS HERETOFORE AMENDED, SO AS TO REZONE PROPERTIES SOUTH OF KAUFMAN STREET TO SHERMAN STREET BETWEEN IST STREET SE AND 33RD STREET SE FROM A ONE -FAMILY DWELLING DISTRICT NO. 1 (SF I) TO A CENTRAL AREA DISTRICT (CA); PROVIDING A REPEALER CLAUSE, A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE, A SAVINGS CLAUSE, A PENALTY CLAUSE; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. Mr. Amo-Mensah said the rezoning proposal on the agenda had been divided into three separate items based on each zoning category. He said this item pertaining to a portion to the north of the Historic District be changed from the current One -Family Dwelling District No. 1 to a Central Area for properties South of Kaufman Street to Sherman Street between 1" Street and 3rd Street.
