Regular Council Meeting <br />December 9, 2024 <br />Page 5 <br />Mayor Pankaj said that Mayor Pro -Tem Savage had contacted him a couple of weeks ago <br />about this item, and that he and Council Member Norment had been working on this. He said <br />Mayor Pro -Tem Savage and Council Member Norment wanted to name the annex building after <br />Gene Anderson. Mayor Pankaj said Mr. Anderson had served the City for forty years and led <br />the City through a lot over the years. He said they wanted to do something for Mr. Anderson. <br />Mr. Anderson said he was honored that they were discussing this and very much appreciated the <br />thought. It was a consensus of the City Council that the annex building be named after Gene <br />Anderson. <br />18. Convene into executive session pursuant to: <br />A. Section 551.071 of the Texas Government Code, Consultation with Attorney, to <br />receive legal advice from the City Attorney about (1) pending or contemplated <br />litigation and/or (2) on matters in which the duty of an attorney to her client under <br />the Texas Disciplinary Rules of Professional Conduct of the State Bar of Texas <br />clearly conflict with this chapter, to -wit: CARDS liquidated damages. <br />B. Section 551.074 of the Texas Government Code to deliberate the appointment, <br />employment, evaluation, reassignment, duties, discipline, or dismissal of a public <br />officer or employee, to -wit: the new city manager search. <br />A Motion to remove item 18A from the table was made by Council Member Kessel and <br />seconded by Council Member Ellis. Motion carried, 5 ayes — 0 nays. <br />Mayor Pankaj convened City Council into executive session at 5:53 p.m <br />19. Reconvene into open session and possibly take action on those matters discussed in <br />executive session. <br />Mayor Pankaj reconvened City Council into open session at 7:06 p.m. and said there was <br />no action to be taken. <br />Ms. Harris said they needed to call a special meeting on Tuesday, December 17 at 5:30 <br />p.m. Council Member Putnam inquired about funding for the Lamar County Humane <br />Association. Mr. Vine said he and Mayor Pankaj were working on this. <br />20. Adjournment. <br />There being no further business, a Motion to adjourn was made by Council Member Ellis <br />and seconded by Council Member Kessel. Motion carried, 5 ayes - 0 nays.
