He would like to avoid someone crashing into his car on the street and prevent <br />hail damage due to several storms we've had. Currently, he drives his car to the car wash <br />when we have a storm to avoid damage. <br />There was discussion amongst the board and the applicant about whether the proposed <br />carport would obstruct the view of traffic on the street, conditions of existing garage and if <br />there had been any damage to vehicles from any of the storms. <br />David Hamilton made note of the I input received in favor of the request. <br />No one else spoke in favor or opposition of the request. <br />Public hearing was declared closed. <br />Motion was made by Ben Vaughan, seconded by Richard Thompson to deny the variances <br />to the City of Paris Area Regulations and Accessory Building Regulations based on the <br />following findings. Motion carried 5 ayes - 0 nays. <br />Fin <br />1. The carport structure setbacks cannot be met. <br />2. The lot is plated. <br />3. The request for variances is not in harmony with the general purposes and intent of area <br />regulations for accessory buildings in residential and apartment districts contained in the <br />Zoning Ordinance 1710 Subsection 13-101. (a & c), and will not protect the character of <br />the 'Immediate vicinity of the area. <br />4. There are no special or unique condition(s) of restricted area, shape, topography, or <br />physical features that exist on the subject parcel of land that cause unusual and practical <br />difficulty or unnecessary hardship in compliance with the provisions sought here to be <br />vaned. <br />5. The hardship sought to be avoided is the result of (a) the applicant's own actions (self- <br />imposed or self-created), and no (b) economic or financial "hardship." <br />6. The provision of the ordinance regulation that are sought to be varied, does not deprive the <br />applicant of reasonable rights to use the property that are commonly enjoyed by other <br />residential properties in the SF -2 Residential Zoning District which are required to comply <br />with these same ordinance provisions. <br />
