City Staff will be requesting 50/50 cost share with the property owner for both these design costs,
and additional construction costs, but need to get the design started now.
STATUS OF ISSUE:
Since the April 22, 2024 approval of the Design Firm, and May 13, 2024 approval of the MTG
Engineers Contract for design, city staff has coordinated design of this project. With the
development of structural design needed for this, city staff thinks it best to coordinate side-by-side
design with Jason Hart Engineering to contribute to the MTG Design Plans, which are currently at
60% completion. We plan on going out for Bids this spring, and building the project this summer.
Jason Hart Engineering fees for this design will be $12,500.
BUDGET:
The City was awarded $500,000 in the Texas Community Development Block Grant. The design
engineering for this project will come from a combination of city funds and CDBG funds. The
Additional funds for this Structural design will come from either the City Engineering Departments
operating budget or reserve funds.
OPTIONS:
1. Authorize the City Manager to sign a Professional Services Contract with Jason Hart
Engineering for the structural design element necessary for parts of the sidewalk on 1St
Street SE between Lamar Avenue and Clarksville Street.
2. Request additional information and/or deny authorization to sign the Professional Services
Contract described above.
RECOMMENDATION:
1. Authorize the City Manager to sign a Professional Services Contract with Jason Hart
Engineering for the structural design element necessary for parts of the sidewalk on 1st
Street SE between Lamar Avenue and Clarksville Street.
