STATUS OF ISSUE: <br />In May 2024, The Paris City Council approved a resolution extending the City's participation in <br />the Texas Motor Vehicle Crime Prevention Authority FY -2025 Grant with the Paris Police <br />Department operating as the fiduciary for the Grant and serving as the lead agency for the <br />Northeast Texas Auto Theft Task Force (Task Force). This initial resolution included as Grant <br />Participants, the Paris Police Department, Lamar County Sheriff's Office, the New Boston <br />Police Department and the Hopkins County Sheriff's Office. In December 2024, the New <br />Boston Police Department withdrew from the MVCPA Task Force due to manpower shortages. <br />In January 2025, the Hopkins County Commissioners approved a resolution to fill the MVCPA- <br />Task Force vacancy, committing an additional Hopkins County Sheriff's Deputy to the Task <br />Force in a full-time capacity. The MVCPA has approved the necessary grant funding <br />adjustments indicated above on the attached Interlocal Agreement. <br />The Paris Police Department requests City Council Approval to amend the previously approved <br />Inter -Local Agreement with Hopkins County transferring the Task Force Position vacated by <br />the New Boston Police Department to the Hopkins Sheriff's Office. <br />BUDGET: There is no unanticipated impact to the budget of the City of Paris or the Paris Police <br />Department. <br />RECOMMENDATION: Approve the Resolutions amending an Inter -Local Agreement between <br />the City of Paris and Hopkins County <br />Attachments: <br />- Amended Inter -Local Agreement (Hopkins County) <br />- Original Inter -Local agreement (Hopkins County) <br />- FY -2025 MVCPA Grant Award <br />- Paris City Council Resolution Approving Participation in the MVCPA dated 5-13-2024 <br />
