Item No. 17 <br />TO: Mayor, Mayor Pro -Tem & City Council <br />FROM: Rose Beverly, City Manager <br />SUBJECT: Airport Manager <br />Appointment of Damon Anderson <br />City Municipal <br />DATE: April 14, 2025 <br />BACKGROUND: Airport Manager, Paul Strahan's last day was Friday, April 4, 2025. City staff <br />including Deputy City Manager, Rob Vine, Airport Manager, Paul Strahan, and HR Manager <br />Sandy Collard interviewed three qualified applicants for the position. <br />STATUS OF ISSUE: <br />Section 23 of the City Charter requires all Department Heads to be approved by City Council, <br />considering this, we were under the impression that the Airport Manager position would not <br />require City Council approval. However, upon further investigation, we found that City Code <br />10.04.003 states: "There is hereby created the office of airport manager. The airport manager <br />shall be appointed by the city manager and gppr"l oved by thncil and shall be paid such <br />compensation as is prescribed from time to time by the city council." <br />In conclusion, the staff is pleased to present Mr. Damon Anderson as our selection for Airport <br />Manager. Mr. Anderson recently managed the Lake Havasu City, AZ Airport, and before that he <br />managed the Sedona, AZ Airport. He has more than a decade of airport experience, and we are <br />impressed by his depth of knowledge and experience in the field. <br />RECOMMENDATION: Approve the Resolution to appoint Mr. Anderson as Airport Manager, <br />
