a. Newsletter: The Friends reported that the newsletter will be coming out in <br />paperformat. Jeannie said that having a digital newsletter has negatively <br />impacted the donations. Connie offered the library printer services to assist <br />with the printing. <br />b. Storywalk: <br />The Friends plan on using the Polar Express again for the wintertime story <br />walk. Connie asked how long the signs should stay posted. Jeannie would <br />Like forthe signs to be up at least a month, butthere is no time limit and to <br />Leave it up to the Children's Librarian, William. <br />c. National Friends of the Library Week: <br />October 19-25 is the National Friends of the Li bra ry Week. The Friends plan <br />on hosting another art contest. Connie would like the youth -aged winners to <br />work collaboratively on a mural for the library. The annual meeting is <br />tentatively set for October 21 St, 2025, from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at the <br />library. <br />VI. Director's Remarks: <br />a. Board member stepping down: <br />Sandi contacted Connie, stating that due to her recent shoulder surgery, she <br />will be stepping down from the position. This leaves one open seat on the <br />board. Connie stated that there is a lot of interest but will have to wait for City <br />Council to move further on the matter. <br />b. Recent break-in of the library: <br />Connie informed the board that during the last week of July, a person broke <br />into the library and was arrested shortly afterward at the Farmer's Market. <br />The library indoor cameras showed the person had come in duringthe day <br />and left a window open, to which they crawled through after closing time. <br />They damaged the library register, stole $24.60, flash drives, and ear buds <br />that are sold to the patrons. While this person was in jail, another <br />unsuccessful attempt was made to break into the library. Connie told the <br />board that the Paris Police Department has been great with increasing their <br />patrol visits. The Chief of Police noted that the hardware for the historical <br />windows is original, so it would be advised to use metal zip ties to secure the <br />windows closed. Connie informed the board that this would not be a fire <br />hazard. Connie stated that it can be unnerving to be at the library alone at <br />
