successful, but the initial purchase of the vehicle would be paid for by Mrs. <br />Rhodes' funding. This would be a small bus, with no special license required <br />to drive. Vetted volunteers such as board members would be asked to drive <br />the bookmobile. Friends of the Paris Public Librarywould be asked to assist <br />in some funding to wrap the bus with a design and possibly a memorialfor <br />Mrs. Rhodes. Maintenance and fuel costs would be included in future library <br />budgets. It is possiblethat additional fundraisers would be needed to help <br />outfitthevehicle with a ramp forthe book cart and ADAcompliance features. <br />The proposed cost of this project is $80,000. <br />6. The Rhodes Gallery: The library staff felt that a way to help honor the large <br />financial gift bestowed upon the library and the people it services would be <br />to rename the gallery as the Rhodes Gallery. Connie noted that the new <br />furniture in the gallerywould be paid for from library budget and a plaque <br />mentioning her contribution would be placed in the gallery. <br />After a lengthy discussion overthe proposed projects, the board stated, "We move to <br />endorse the spending recommendations from Director Lawman to spend $15,000 for the <br />medical resources proposal and $30,000 for the LED lighting proposal." Myers made the <br />motion to approve, with Dee providing the second. All board members in attendance were <br />in favor. <br />V. Friends of the Library Report: <br />Jeannie informed the board that the current membership forfriends is <br />decreasing. The Friends will be returning to a paper newsletter because the <br />digital newsletter did not appear to have as much reach for the current <br />membership. The Friends will also have a new t -shirt design coming out and that <br />they are also working on finding ways to get more active on social media. <br />a. John Ericson, author of Hank the Cowdog, has agreed to make a visit to <br />the Library for $3,000. <br />VI. Director's Remarks: <br />Connie reported stats to the board. Circulation for December showed 9,775 <br />items were checked out, in comparison to 8,984 items in December 2024. <br />
