1. Medical Resources: Mrs. Rhodes was a medical professional and so the stafli <br />felt that it was important to use some funds to purchase items that could <br />help future medical professionals. Items requested were EMS test <br />preparation materials, Red Cross programming, six blood pressure monitors, <br />and a collection of medical books. The proposed amountforthis is $15,000. <br />2. LED lighting: Connie noted that the library would benefit from replacing all <br />Lights with LEDs. The new bulbs would have to be replaced Less often and <br />there would be less of a fire hazard. The proposed amount forthis request is <br />3. Caregiver computer cubby: On this presentation slide, Connie showed the <br />board an image of a parent sitting at a computer, with theiryoung child next <br />to them in a contained play area. The contained play area and the computer <br />desk are attached, with the concept that the parent can conduct their <br />business as the young child can safety play next to them. The board had a <br />few questions regarding the quoted price of $3,000 - $5,000. Connie stated <br />that she received that quote from a locaL carpenter that has already <br />completed somejobs forthe library. After some discussion, the board asked <br />to putthis project on hold, until more information could be provided <br />regardingthe proposed costs. <br />4. Carpet, vinyl, and paint: Connie would like forthe tibraryto have new carpet, <br />vinyl, and paint throughout. This would be completed in stages so thatthe <br />library doesn't have to close. Thefirst stage would be in the gallery. The <br />second stagewould take place in the common areas, and the last stage <br />would be in the older portion of the library. The staff has noted thatthis is a <br />high prioritywish forthem. Connie also informed the board members that <br />the librarywoutd apply paintto 680 linearfeet of wall space, with some <br />brighter colors in the great room and teen room, white more muted colors <br />would be in the rest of the spaces. Connie also noted that itwouLd #- <br /># - <br />eore efficient to rent a bookshelf Lift forthis process. The liftwoutd be used <br />to movethe shelves easitywhilethe carpet is installed. The cost of the <br />bookshelf lift is quoted at $5,000. The total proposed amountforthis <br />refurbishment request is $130,000. <br />5.
