Item No. 9 <br />Memorandum <br />TO: Mayor, Mayor Pro -Tem & City Council <br />Rose Beverly, City Manager <br />FROM: Jon McFadden, Public Information Officer <br />SUBJECT: Designation of Lake Crook as a Registered Texas Historic Landmark <br />DATE: April 7, 2026 <br />BACKGROUND: Local historian Mr. Marvin Gorley recently offered to prepare and submit an <br />application to the Texas Historical Commission for Lake Crook and the surrounding watershed to <br />be listed as a Registered Texas Historic Landmark. Noting a lengthy partnership for the <br />improvement and use of Lake Crook between the City, the Lamar County Chamber of Commerce, <br />and the Visitors and Convention Council, the V and CC will supply the application fee. <br />Mr. Gorley plans to attend the meeting and is willing to address any questions that may arise. <br />STATUS OF ISSUE: The application is ready for submission if the council approves the <br />resolution. <br />BUDGET: Application fees to be provided by the V & CC. <br />RECOMMENDATION: Approve the resolution in support of the application. <br />
