<br />POLICE ATHLETIC LEAGUE OFFICER <br /> <br />JOB DESCRIPTION <br /> <br />1. Must be fully licensed Peace Officer of the State of Texas. <br /> <br />2. Organize existing activities of an estimated 400 juveniles. <br /> <br />3. Expand P.A.L. membership by an additional 100 juveniles. <br /> <br />4. Expand the offenders program to supervised evening activities for an <br />estimated additional 25 juveniles referred by the Lamar County Juvenile <br />Probation Department. <br /> <br />5. Serve as a role model to young people participating in the program, by <br />demonstrating qualities as physical fitness, leadership, and cultural <br />awareness. <br /> <br />6. Recruit and supervise community volunteers to teach martial arts, boxing <br />weight lifting, and other athletic recreational activities. <br /> <br />7. Meet with Civic groups, churches, and other community groups to explain the <br />program and to encourage community involvement. <br /> <br />8. Supervise maintenance and renovation of the building. <br /> <br />9. Ensure participation of young people from all parts of the community. <br /> <br />10. Provide one on one counseling and physical fitness training to students of the <br />Lamar County alternative education classroom. <br /> <br />11. Provide a recreation center with extended hours and give all juve-niles in Paris <br />and Lamar County between the ages of 8 to 18 a safe place to "hang out" with <br />closely monitored and supervised athletic and non-athletic recreational <br />programs. <br />
