<br />SPECIAL MEETING <br />OF THE CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF PARIS <br />September 18, 2006 <br /> <br />The City Council of the City of Paris met for a special meeting at 6:00 P. M. Monday, <br />September 18,2006, at the City Council Chamber, 107 E. Kaufman, Paris, Texas. <br /> <br />Present: <br /> <br />Mayor: <br /> <br />Richard Manning <br /> <br />Council Members: Curtis Fendley; Mary Ann Fisher, Mayor <br />Pro Tern; Kevin Gray; Jesse James <br />Free1en; and Don Wilson <br /> <br />City Staff: <br /> <br />Tony N. Williams, City Manager; John <br />Lestock, Assistant City Attorney; and <br />Janice Ellis, City Clerk <br /> <br />Absent: <br /> <br />Council Member: Tim Ray <br /> <br />1. Mayor Manning called the meeting to order. <br /> <br />Don McHam gave the invocation. <br /> <br />2. Pledge of Allegiance. <br /> <br />Bee Garmon led the pledge. <br /> <br />3. Public Hearing on proposed amendments to the City Manager's proposed Budget for <br />fiscal year 2006-2007 for the City of Paris. <br /> <br />Mayor Manning opened the public hearing and asked for anyone wishing to speak to <br />come forward. <br /> <br />Joe McCarthy, 1260-17th N.E. - spoke against privatizing or closing the swimming <br />pool. He stated this would affect children whose parents could not afford to belong to a <br />private swimming pool. <br /> <br />Henry Shaw, represented the Boys & Girls Club - spoke against closing or privatizing <br />the swimming pool. He said that during the summer months, they took 150 children each <br />week to the swimming pool, He further said that privatizing the pool would mean higher <br />admission making it unavailable for many children. <br />
