<br />SECTION 4.04 - Medical Examinations <br /> <br />A person selected for initial appointment or reinstatement will be required to undergo a thorough <br />medical examination at City expense. Employment will be contingent upon successful completion <br />of the medical examination in relation to the essentialjob functions. The City Manager or designee, <br />acting on information provided by medical personnel will be the final authority in determining <br />medical suitability for employment. <br /> <br />SECTION 4.05 - Orientation <br /> <br />An orientation program will be provided by the Department Head or designee upon hiring or when <br />and employee enters a new position. The orientation program is designed to: <br /> <br />A. Explain the form of City Government and where the employee fits into the chain of <br />command; <br /> <br />B. Show the facilities and specific work area(s); <br /> <br />C. Explain the specific job duties that the employee will be expected to perform; <br /> <br />D. Discuss the responsibilities of the new job; <br /> <br />E. Discuss contents of the Substance Abuse, Sexual Harassment, Employee Conduct and Use <br />of Equipment policies and have the employee sign an acknowledgment form. <br /> <br />F. Explain the relationship of the new employee to other employees; <br /> <br />G. Introduce the employee to co-workers; <br /> <br />H. Demonstrate the use of equipment to be used on the job; <br /> <br />I. Explain policies and procedures. <br /> <br />As part of the orientation program, each employee will be given a copy the City of Paris Human <br />Resources Handbook and will be encouraged to read it carefully. Questions should be directed to <br />the employee's immediate supervisor, department head or the Human Resources Director or <br />designee. <br /> <br />15 <br /> <br />Revised 01.25.05 <br />
